Doist's threaded team communication app. Manage workspaces, channels, threads, comments, and direct-message conversations following the workspace, channel, thread, comment hierarchy.

27 actions available
A tracked thread reaches a state that looks resolved, based on an upstream signal
Agent reads the thread's comments and any linked tasks or issues
Agent scans for open action items or unanswered questions in the thread
Agent posts a summary of the thread's status to the channel
Agent lists any open items it found before proposing to close the thread
A thread owner confirms the work is done; only then does the agent call Close Thread

What This Integration Enables

FlowRunner agents use Twist to keep asynchronous discussion organized and connected to the work it tracks. An agent can start a titled thread when an event fires in another system, post comments to relay updates and mention the right people, create and organize channels for new projects, resolve conversations by closing threads and reopen them for follow-up, and sync direct-message discussions into logs or task systems. Mentions and group mentions notify specific members or everyone. The discipline the agent keeps is closure: it summarizes the state of a thread and asks the owner before it marks a conversation done.

Without FlowRunner

Threads never close Discussions stay open long after the work is finished, or get closed too early
Lost action items A thread gets marked done while a follow-up task is still open
Manual status checks Someone reads each thread to decide whether it can be closed

With FlowRunner

Agent summarizes status The agent surfaces the thread's state and any open items
Human confirms closure An owner signs off before a thread with open work is closed
Clean thread hygiene Threads close when the work is actually done, not by guess

Use Case Scenarios

Thread closure with an open-items gate

An upstream signal suggests a tracked thread is resolved. Before closing it, the agent reads the thread's comments and any linked tasks, then scans for open action items or unanswered questions. If it finds none, it still posts a status summary and asks the owner to confirm. If it finds open items, it lists them and holds. Only when the thread owner confirms the work is done does the agent call Close Thread. A conversation never closes over unfinished work.

Organized intake from other tools

When a message posts in a monitored channel elsewhere, the agent calls Add Thread to open a titled discussion in the relevant Twist channel, so follow-up lands in one organized place instead of a fast stream. Project channels get created with Add Channel and seeded with an initial thread.

Action items from a conversation

The agent uses Get Conversation Messages to pull a direct-message discussion, identifies the action items, and turns each one into a tracked task in a task system. Decisions made in a DM become work someone owns, without copying by hand.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

The human-in-loop moment in Twist is the closure gate. Starting threads and posting comments run on their own. Closing a thread does not, because a closed thread signals the work is done. When an upstream signal suggests a thread is resolved, the agent reads the whole thread, looks for open action items, and posts a summary to the owner: "This thread looks resolved, but it still has two open action items linked to it. Close it anyway, or keep it open?" The owner decides. Only a confirmation leads the agent to call Close Thread. The agent keeps threads organized and summarized. A person owns the call that says the work is finished.
