What This Integration Enables

Agents run the full fulfillment surface. On the order side they list and read (List Orders, Get Order), write (Create or Update Order, Delete Order), drive fulfillment state (Mark Order as Shipped, Hold Order Until, Restore Order from Hold), and tag (Add Tag to Order, Remove Tag from Order, List Order Tags). On the shipping side they rate, buy, and void (List Shipments, Get Shipment Rates, Create Shipment Label, Void Shipment Label, Create Label for Order, List Fulfillments). They keep reference data in sync across customers (List Customers, Get Customer), products (List Products, Get Product, Update Product), warehouses or Ship From Locations (List Warehouses, Get Warehouse, Create Warehouse, Delete Warehouse), and stores (List Stores, Get Store, Refresh Store). Carrier metadata (List Carriers, List Carrier Services, List Carrier Packages) and webhook management (List Webhooks, Subscribe Webhook, Unsubscribe Webhook) complete the picture, so an operations team gets a fulfillment desk that runs itself and asks for help only when it matters.

Without FlowRunner

Manual rate shopping Someone compares carrier rates in ShipStation for each order before buying
Labels bought blind High-cost labels are purchased with no check against the order's margin
Voids forgotten Unused labels are rarely voided, so postage is spent on shipments that never move

With FlowRunner

Rates compared on the event On New Order fires and Get Shipment Rates returns live options automatically
Costly labels reviewed Labels over a cost threshold pause for a human before the purchase is made
Voids handled in-flow Void Shipment Label runs when an order is cancelled after the label was bought

Use Case Scenarios

Order to Label on Arrival

On New Order fires. The agent reads the order, calls Get Shipment Rates to compare carriers, and applies the order's rule to pick a service. It runs Create Shipment Label to buy the label, captures the tracking number, and calls Mark Order as Shipped. The order moves from new to shipped without anyone opening the queue, and the team reviews the exceptions instead of processing every line.

Cross-System Intake

A store or ERP creates an order elsewhere. The agent calls Create or Update Order to push it into ShipStation, Add Tag to Order to mark its source, and Get Shipment Rates to line up the carrier. When inventory upstream is short, it calls Hold Order Until to park the order and Restore Order from Hold once stock is confirmed, so partial orders do not ship early and get chased later.

Shipment Notification

On New Shipment fires when a label is created. The agent reads the carrier and tracking number and emails the customer their shipping details, then logs the shipment for reporting in [Google Sheets](/integrations/google-sheets). The notification goes out the moment the shipment exists, not at the end of a batch a person remembers to run.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

Most labels should just print. A label that costs more than the order can bear is a decision, and human-in-the-loop is the pattern where the agent pauses before spending rather than after. When Get Shipment Rates returns a best price above a configurable cost threshold, or above a set percentage of the order value, the agent does not run Create Shipment Label on its own. It presents the order, the rate options, and the margin impact, then routes to ops in [Slack](/integrations/slack): "Order #3391 cheapest label is $47 on a $95 order. Buy it, downgrade the service, or hold for review?" Ops decides. On approval, the agent buys the label and records the approver and the rate chosen. Orders under the threshold ship straight through.
